Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 46-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung's 2007 model LNT4661FF is a good choice. Besides offering full 1080p resolution the LNT4661F also features a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle texture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.

Compared to other Samsung Models
The primary differences between Samsung's LNT4661F and the step-up LNT4665F LCD HDTV is in the contrast ratio and video processing power. The pricier LNT4665F offers a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio compared to this model's 10,000:1 ratio, and also offers full 10bit video processing over this model's 8 bit system. The more expensive model should display finer gradients of shading making for more detail in darker scenes. The video processing difference should ensure smoother motion in fast moving scenes for the LNT4065F.

Video Processing
The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

Connections

  • HDMI (version 1.3): 3 (1 CEC cabaple)
  • Component video: 2 (Y, Pb, Pr)
  • S-Video input: 1 side/1 rear
  • A/V inputs: 1 side/1 rear
  • PC inout: 1
  • Headphone Jack: 1
  • USB 2.0: 1

Audio Features
High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

  • Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
  • TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
  • The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

What's in the box: Samsung LNT4661F 46-inch 1080P LCD TV, remote control, 2 AAA batteries, Power Cord, cleaning cloth, owners manual, warranty card.

1 out of 5 stars Poor service/performance   January 3, 2009
We purchased this TV from Circuit City on September 29, 2007 and have had nothing but problems with it. 7 months after purchasing this set we had to have a Samsung repair man out to replace the 'guts' (sound and picture) of the tv. About 2 months after that repair I noticed that the Tv was taking longer than usual to turn on, approx 15 to 20 seconds, called Samsung and was told that it was normal (even though it had just started doing that). Anyway, on Jan 2nd 2009, the TV turned itself off and back on, called Samsung and was told that this is the TV telling me that I need a new lamp (approx. a $400 repair), after digging a little deeper with this CR, was told that when the TV was taking a long time to turn on it was the first warning but now I am out of warranty.

BE WARY, if the TV starts doing anything wierd call Samsung and get a repair person out ASAP.

By the way I was also told that 2% to 3% of these TV's are expected to fail (very low percentage, but not when you pay $2500 and yours is in that 2% or 3%).

5 out of 5 stars Great value for money spent   December 31, 2008
I have had this TV for over a year and wanted to give it awhile before reviewing. The picture is still fantastic. I would recommend this TV to anyone over my Sharp Aquos TV.

5 out of 5 stars Samsung LNT4661F   December 8, 2008
I have had this TV about 10 months now .So far so good .Did about 3 months of research before the purchase. Its all they said it was and more .
No problems , Amazon and shipping was great also. Much better than a store in many ways ,do it again with no hesitation .
Great picture ,sound ,and everything .Samsung is top shelf in my book.
Set up with a good calibration disc and make sure to have the best connection from your source to get the best possible picture you can get and you'll love it !

1 out of 5 stars Very Bad Purchase!   November 22, 2008

I did a lot of research before picking out this TV. The reviews here are great and the picture was incredible when I went to stores to check out all of the TV's. Everything looked good, even great, so I bought it in Aug. 2007. For one year I loved this TV, but in the 13th month of it's life, it started acting up. Sometimes when we turn it on, there was sound, but no picture. We called Samsung and they extended the warranty a month. It went to the repair shop on Sept. 14th. That repair shop had it two times, before they gave it back and said, they couldn't fix it. So Samsung had another repair shop take it. They now have it for the second time as well, with no fix. Meanwhile it has been over two months, and it is still in the shop. We are now trying to get Samsung to replace it, but things are not going well.It looks as if there is no fix for this problem, as I have learned it is pretty common and Samsung knows it. And now after researching Samsung problems and customer service, it looks like we will learn a $2,000 lesson.
All I can say is go to Youtube and search Samsung problems and Complaints.com and put in Samsung TV. I would rather pay more to deal with a company that stands behind their products. They will never get another dime of my hard earned money!

It has been a year since my purchase and this TV has been great. I would buy it again.
