Great DVDR - Works With Slingbox December 30, 2008 I've had the Philips 3575H/37 for about 8 months and found it to be a very capable recorder. It's not without its' quirks but it does the job and copies recordings from the hard drive to the DVD very quickly when it's set up correctly. Recently I hooked the Philips box up through an old Slingbox and can now program and watch the DVDR timer recordings as well as live TV over the internet with SlingPlayer software on my laptop or WMPC...
Hope You Don't Miss Out December 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is coming from a non-enthusiast. I wanted something that could record from cable TV to a hard drive and then spit it out on DVDs. It does just that. With the sweet hard drive size that you can't find elsewhere, this was a great deal. The editing is enough for any normal person. Don't get caught up with being picky over options when there is not a lot out there to choose from in the first place. This is the best deal you will find concerning DVR with a built-in hard drive. The best. Not to mention upscaling DVD player? Hello?? Awesome deal :).
As far as performance, the picture on upscaled dvds looks great on my 40inch 1080p Samsung LCD. Recording is reliable, and I love that you can tell it to record for x amount of time and then auto-power off.
There is a model right above this one that costs 100 bucks more, but I checked the specs on them both and called Philips to confirm: They are the same exact thing besides the price difference and the physical color of the item.
I Love it!!!!! November 7, 2008 I love this it is great! I am using it with my old roof top antenna. I get a lot more channels all in digital and they are very clear! The recorder is nice but you can only watch/tape one channel at a time and it has a few second lag if you are taping things back to back on different channels. But it is a BIG upgrade for me and I love it! No more VHS tapes everywhere!
Finally a solution for DTV with an antenna October 4, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I did a lot of research in preparation for the switchover to DTV. I have an antenna and no plans to move to cable or satellite and my antenna works just fine. I've been using VCRs, but to continue using them you have to have a decoder box for each one set to a single station. Expensive and annoying. All I wanted was a digital TV recorder so I could continue to record and watch programs at my convenience. Well this unit does just that. I had no problems setting it up. It was easy to program to record -- just like my VCRs. You can record while watching another program, and recording quality is very good even at lower resolution. This unit was exactly what I was looking for.
Just what I expected September 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Since Best Buy and Wal-mart have decided not to sell this item because of copyright concerns, I was pleased to find it at Amazon at a very reasonable price. It is replacing a DVDR by Polaroid, which was a piece of junk. Much better than VCR's. I was able to record 26 hours of Olympics and then put on DVD for playing later on my laptop. All in all a great machine.
